I went to the moviegoblin site and it kept trying to get me to take surveys and quizzes. The surveys wouldn't let me exit and I finally had to hit cnt alt del to get out of them. I would love to watch the movie on there. Were you able to get to the movie without doing the surveys? Can you tell me how if you did?

Honestly, I have never seen a Kindle. I had mentioned a while back that I would like a reader, not specifying what kind and my son got me the Sony Reader for Christmas.

I like the fact that I can put up to 350 books on it and the library with me without it weighing a ton. I love to read and was always carrying a lot of books with us when we went on trips. This will make it easier. And the other two pluses for me, is it is allowing me to be somewhat green and save some trees. Also, I have found that the books are cheaper to buy and download to the reader.

It's quite possible that I over analyze everything and totally miss the point!!

I take it you like the Reader? Is it different than the Kindle?

You do have a point hope about what you read. After further thought, the book was mainly about Suzie keeping up with everyone on earth from her heaven.

I will see if they have Almost Moon for my reader the next time that I am purchasing books to go on the reader.

I understood that the dad wanted to find the killer and suspected Mr. Harvey... I just didn't come away from the book with that being the main idea or main focus. It didn't seem any more important to me than how Suzie's mother dealt with her grief, or even the sister. The main character wasn't the father...it was Suzie... To me, the point was to show how each person, including Suzie, worked through their loss and came to terms with it...

Oh, and Alice Sebold also wrote a book called Almost Moon and if you liked Lovely Bones, Almost Moon is good also. I liked it better.

I finished reading the book last night. I got that the book was about the dad finding the killer. The dad knew who killed his daughter and the police didn't believe him. The mom didn't believe him, because the police didn't believe him. They only started believing him when the surviving daughter broke into the killer's house and found the sketch of the underground area in the cornfield. The book that I read was written by Alice Sebold.

I saw the previews for the first time last night...and I have to say, I think I read a totally different book!!

I remember the cave being in the cornfield, just not that it was under. But nevermind that...from what I saw, the focus of the book is changed in the movie...making it more about the dad and his quest to find the murderer. I don't remember that being the main idea of the book. I guess I missed the point, totally!!

I am half way through the book now. I have seen the movie advertising on TV. I have not decided if I will see the movie or not. Reading the book and if they did tone the movie down, I can somewhat understand. I did not catch the movie rating as it is now.

The general consensus seems to be he toned it down, projected himself as a parent too much into the movie and as a result sacrificed a critical element of the book.

Ironically in earlier works he was criticized for being too graphic in the name of artistry and pursuit of truth. Nothing like having a teenage daughter to affect your "vision". I haven't seen the movie but those who have tell me it's a crime to have watered it down. For perspective, remember these were HUGE devotees of the book so the reaction may have been a little strong.

I am reading the book now. I have not seen the movie. The reason you wouldn't remember the cave. It is an area underground, basically under the cornfield. He sets it up for the sole purpose of enticing the girl to come there.

I didn't even know that there was a movie based on the book.

I read where Peter Jackson took the actual rape scene out of the movie...the way I understand it, she goes with the attacker into the cave (which I don't remember being a cave in the book??) and then it will show her coming out as a ghost.

People seem to be upset over this... I'm not sure it's a bad thing. I don't need to see the graphic rape of a child. The book was more about what happened after her death than the actual rape itself.

If you read the book, will you be seeing the movie? Should the graphic murder scene be part of the movie?
