I agree. Grizzard is good. But no one's mentioned Pat McManus. You guys need to read some of Pat's work if you enjoy outdoor humor (not necessarily southern)

I like Florence King. She's a little more cerebral a writer than Grizzard or the Sweet Potato Queens, but I love her satire on Southern stereotypes. Her book "Southern Ladies And Gentlemen" takes each stereotype of a small southern town population and explains it. You get explanations of "The Town Fairy", "Big Daddy", "The Southern Belle", "The Deb", and so on and so forth.

Lewis Grizzard RULES!!! He is without a doubt the funniest guy that ever drew breath! Like George Carlin, Lewis Grizzard could read a shopping list and make you laugh hard enough to wet your pants!!! As for the Sweet Potato Queens, yeah they are funny, but they tend to write in a totally female mind-set whereas L.G. wrote (and spoke) in an all-encompassing voice.
R.I.P. Lewis! I know you're cracking the angels up!!!
