Please, do choose something, and let the rest of us in on it. Any chance you might choose a classic, or will this be from the "popular" lists only? Kind thanks, Aunt Jane

Okay Otto, we'll see what everyone thinks and if we don't get any responses I will just post a book and hopefully someone will read it.

I wish I could, but I'm on the road too sporadically. I think you're the perfect person for the job; you're obviously interested, and have great taste in books.
So what if you pick a bad book? I'm going to read something anyway, and 30% of what I pick out is guaranteed to suck :) So I won't hold it against you if what you pick sucks, too. I wouldn't expect you to pick a book that you've already read, anyway, so it's just the luck of the draw.

Wow Otto, I am flattered! I honestly agree with you, but don't know if I am organized and assertive enough to be the best president. I would sure give it a shot though. If you are interested I would love for you to take over and maybe I could run next year. LOL! Let me know if you are interested and I will nominate you.
Anyhoo, I do agree with Otto that we are fizzling out and need to get some direction. I truly loved the first couple of months of discussing our books, but I must admit to some guilt of picking books that others may not have liked. I have a hard time dealing with that.

I have a suggestion to help this book club move along a little easier.
Since there aren't that many people that come to this forum yet, we're losing a few weeks of reading in trying to decide what to read. So I say that we elect a President for the club, and on the first day of each month it would be up to that President to assign a book.
And since Sherrie is the founder of the club, I nominate her as the first President. I would also suggest that her reign be from May 1 2006 - April 30 2007, at which time we hold another election.
Do I hear a "second?"
Once the President is determined, we need to decide what the goals of the online club are. Are we reading a book together, and then discussing certain chapters on certain days? Or are we reading quietly, and at the end of the month posting what we thought of the book? Or is there another path we should follow?
La Presidenta, I'll follow whatever you decide on that one, but I do believe that we need to decide something. So far, we're just all over the map.
