I have to admit it...I'm a complete Sherrilyn Kenyoun addict. Get every one when they are released. However, for some other series that I don't think have been mentioned: Yasmine Galenorn's Sisters of the Otherworld series (Witchling, Changeling, Darkling....three others to date); for those wtih a much less romantic bent, Christopher Golden's Shadow Saga series (Of Saints and Shadows, Angel Souls and Devil Hearts, Of Masques and Martyrs, etc); and for ADULT reading, check out Laurell K. Hamilton's series that begins wtih A Kiss of Shadows...faye, not vamp, and not for anyone under 18.

Raido, it's OK. I wasn't real excited to read those books either but I did and couldn't put them down. The word Vampire, made me think, far fetched, if you will, however; Stephenie Meyer did an excellent job. I read all four and couldn't put them down.

I apologize for being critical. We like what we like. No one need give any reason.

I'm a 51 year old man who occasionally reads romance novels! GO FOR IT! TEAR ME A NEW ONE! I richly deserve it.

I also read lots of technical journals about radio engineering, computers, audio, recording, and other geeky stuff...not because I have to...I do it FOR FUN!

I subscribe to both Cat Fancy AND Bird Talk! Kind of like registering Republican AND Democrat, don't you think?

I'm a perfectionist, but in areas that matter to no one but me. I spend much of my life "in the forest" (figuratively speaking), desperately searching for trees. In other words. who the **** am I to question YOUR taste and judgment, when mine is so deeply flawed!

Enjoy what you enjoy! And never worry what a jerk like me, or anyone else for that matter, thinks!

I love paranormal books. I read them constantly and own several hundred of these books. I have been collecting them since high school and my collection ranges from space travel to vamps, ghosts, and dragons, witches, and werewolves, and all manner of shifters. I just cannot get enough of these books. Yes, i am lightningkat and i am addicted to paranormal literature.

You're right, I should have just ignored the thread. I don't understand the appeal of the genre. There's just something about the genre that bothers me. The idea that a compulsion to drink human blood is somehow a romantic curse. EWWW!. I can't imagine anything I'd less enjoy spending five seconds contemplating, much less a few hundred pages.

Still, that's what these forums are for. The expression of opinions. These are mine!

I understand that you do not like Vampire books. What I do not understand is why you felt the urge to click & reply on a thread titled "Read any good vampire books lately?"

If the subjcet matter is vampires, it can be a "terrific read", and never be read by ME!

Sorry! Vampires, space aliens, Area 51, "left behind" sagas, conspiracy theory nonsense, these are literary places I'll never visit. And I believe my life will have been enriched immensely by staying away!

If they're you're "cup of tea", then by all means enjoy. I'm sure I read some things that would make you yawn!

The total number of vampire books I've read....let me calculate this...carry the one....ok....just one second...alright...the total number of vampire books I've read is ZERO. The total number I expect to have read when drawing my final breath: ZERO. A life well lived!
