I just finished the 9 books in the Southern Vampire Series By Charlaine Harris. I can't wait til this fall for #10. These books were absolutely fantastic! The only other series I have ever read & been so engrossed by was Harry Potter. This series has it all - action, romance & humor.

Like most others, I have several favorites and can not narrow it down to one. So, here are a few in no particular order: Gone With the Wind, Harry Potter series, The Shack, The Mitford series by Jan Karon, The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency, Forever Amber, anything by Pat Conroy, James Lee Burke's Detective Dave Robicheaux (sp?) series, to name a few.

Friday was written by Robert Heinlein. Stranger in a Strange Land, Starship Troopers, and The Moon is a Harsh Mistress by Heinlein are also very good (among others). I have a lot of SciFi favorites too. I just finished rereading Gateway by Frederik Pohl. Great book also.

I have many favorites, but one I have read many times was Friday, by Robert Heinleik. (misspelled his name I'm sure sorry). Science Fiction at its finest. The Odd Brother series by Koontz is also really good.
Way too many to list. Also a book addict and love to read.

I have to make an amendment to my previous reply or rather I need to add something. When I made a list of Hesse's more popular novels, I left out the best one. Steppenwolf is a must read novel. Steppenwolf encompasses the scope of human suffering, loneliness, and the struggle to find the self after self-awareness has been attained. Any person who strives to find out who they are should pick up this book and read of the struggle in isolation a man had on the long road to himself.

There is no way for me to pinpoint my favorite book, but I can say that my favorite author is Hermann Hesse. Hesse wrote some of the greatest literature of his or any other era and actually won a nobel prize for his writing. He is the author of Siddhartha, Demian, The Glass Bead Game (Magister Ludi), and other great novels. What makes Hesse unique is his abilty to write prose in a manner than can only be described as seamless, unrhymed poetry. Hesse had the ability not only to write eloquent, flowing sentences that are unmatched in modern writing, but also had the psychological and philosophical insights that surpassed most of the greats in the respective fields. Hesse had a tremendous understanding of the human condition and as well as a vast knowledge of theology. The only weakness I've found in Hesse is that he didn't write more.

My Favorite Books are all of the Harry Potter Series and not far behind is the Twilight Series. Both are absolutely wonderful sets of books to read and they grab and pull you in and you just cant stop reading them.
