It's a little bit different than that BRG. The main character was actually inducted into the group five hundred years ago by a spirtual type leader. They have an oath to protect the secret and never share the blood with anyone. The guy never actually ages in the book. There is no way to kill him at all. He has had his head cut off and it just grew back. If you cut their arm off it grows back the next day. Kind of silly. LOL! Still a good read, though.

Hmmmm, I thought this sounded familiar.
Twilight Zone
Episode 24, "Long Live Walter Jameson" (Written by Charles Beaumont, First aired March 18, 1960) features the familiar face of Kevin McCarthy ("Invasion of the Body Snatchers") in the title role. Jameson bought the gift of immortality two thousand years ago from an alchemist and has seen all of his wives, children and friends grow old and die over and over again. Now he wants it all to be over. This first season episode features some nice special effects work with makeup as Jameson ages rapidly at the end.

I have a shelf of books that I need to read. There have been books on that shelf that have been there for almost ten years. When I run out of books to read that are best sellers or more interesting I go to this shelf and search for one that sounds the most interesting. Most of the books I read more often are ones that are current or best sellers so I only go to this shelf once in awhile. It is reserved for the books that I thought I might like to read, but not the top of my list.
Last week I was bored and hadn't gotten the new book I wanted to read so I pored over my shelf and found this book: My Soul to Keep. It is by an African American lady and was written in 1997. It must have caught my eye back in 97 so I looked it over and thought I would give it a try. It was awesome!!
If you like vampire themed books ala Anne Rice, this one is great. It is about a man who is immortal. He doesn't drink blood, but he cannot be killed. He goes through marriages over 500 years and in the twentieth century he marries a woman who he doesn't want to give up. He has been accustomed to leaving his families after they start getting older, because he doesn't age and he has to leave them to keep them from finding out he is immortal. He decides he can't give up this wife and his child and begins to kill her family and friends to hide his secret. It is a really good book, full of suspense. You almost feel sorry for this guy.
If you decide to read it, let me know what you think. I loved it!!
