That's a good point, Forever Cynic.

If he wins, he can take them to disney world and they will forget all about gramps

I don't think so. Derek's basically running the game right now, and he's just a cop. He's almost a guaranteed win for the season, and that $500k would change his family's life.

His children are so small, they probably have no idea what death is. They might not have even been close to their grandfather.

Wow...another contestant lost a grandparent today. Derrick just received notice his grandfather passed.

If I were him, I would HAVE to leave. Unlike Frankie, he has small children who are grieving. If I had children, my conscience wouldn't let me stay, even for a potential $500K.

Borrowing a line from one of my all-time favorite movies, "Smokey and the Bandit"....

That's chicken **** money...

I was hesitant to reveal the name because of spoilers, but....I guess it doesn't matter now. It's Frankie.

Who cares? It's a horrible show to begin with.

With 9 millions viewers in the US, obviously a lot of people care. This season has been pretty boring, though. I think they're protecting some of the HGs, like Victoria.

That's screwed up..
He needs to be there for his mom and/or dad.
No amount of money is worth it.

That's just ignorant. No amount of money is worth missing a funeral? Seriously? $500,000 can change someone's life, forever. Not to mention the future jobs.

It soils the game, as well. Now the other contestants won't vote for him out of pity. He should be with his family.

I agree with this, though. If he's going to get information from outside, then he should be removed from the game, regardless. Remember on Survivor when the one guy faked a family death to get sympathy votes?

If I were on the show, I would want to know if someone in my immediate family was terminally injured or sick and I could possibly donate blood or an organ to save them. If they've already died, though, then unless it's my husband or kids then don't bother me; there's nothing I can do for them, anyway.

Which HG is it ?

I think they need to let him out for few hours, less go to the funeral. Just have a person from the show go with him to make sure he don't say nothing about things from inside of the house. Or, let him go and bring him back next year.

When you sign up for shows like this...the contestants know the rules and the implications of those rules, prior to signing on.

There is always a chance, that a loved one will pass while the show is being filmed, whether that loved one is old or infirmed or young and healthy...death is never on schedule or on time.

If there was any karma in the world, a meteor would fall on the house

Glitter, I tend to agree. I don't think anyone will nominate him for a while because they don't want to look like a jerk to America. But, this person also isn't really on but one or two HGs' radars.

I have an idea for a reality show. I'm working on putting it together to pitch to a network

An update: The HG in question was just informed. He got a letter from his family. The funeral is Saturday, but he is choosing to continue on in the game. He's very sad right now. My heart goes out to him.

I know I don't like this contestant at all, but I am sick at the thought he's not being told. He just said on the feeds, "I wonder how my grandpa is doing." I almost started crying for him. It's heartbreaking.
