I too have to take this book in small doses. It is a bit much for one to stand. It is good to know the real truth about the history of our nation-a dose of honesty-a real eye opener.

I have been reading it in small doses, it has a tendancy to infuriate a person. This should be mandatory reading all throughout school. I say lets start with a 1st grader primer of this book and continue thru 12th. grade. Then you would really see some changes in our government.

i cant wait until you get to the late 20th century...the entire book is good and i have to say i was outraged at it all...you never learn about how extensive the labor strikes were around the turn of the century, but when you get to the Nixon years and beyond...if you are not pissed off then you are not paying attention!!...read on read on!!! and discuss!!

we all know that and that is precisely why this is a good read, ...this is the real history, about real people, just like all of us, not that top 1% with all the money

One has to remember that "history is written by the victors".

I found a copy to read. Starting out it reinforces what I have been reading about the treatment of Native Americans." Some humans aren't human."

A PEOPLE'S HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES 1492-PRESENT by Howard Zinn--it is an excellent piece of non-fiction that covers American history through the eyes of working people, women, blacks, indians, etc. I am about the receive my BA in history and honestly learned so so much from this book. Check it out, and if anyone has read it please lets discuss!!
