Just finished one that I bought at the friends of the library book sale. It was by Tommy Hays,and the book was It Was My Pleasure. It was one of the best books that I have read in a while.

Ashlou, if you liked "Bitter Blood,", you will probably like a recently published book, "Without Precedent," a biography of Susie Sharp, former Chief Justice of North Carolina. She was the aunt of the young mother in "Bitter Blood" who was one of the suspect in the murders. The author is a female attorney from a Raleigh law firm, but I can't remember her name. From all appearances, the Chief Justice was a prim and proper spinster but the biography sheds some light on another side of her life through the years she served in the justice system.

Try ( One Second After) By William Forstchen. He is a History Prof at Montreat.

John Ehle's another good writer from western North Carolina.

If you like true crime novels, Jerry Bledsloe wrote several true crime novels about crimes that occured in NC, my favortie one is Bitter Blood.

Robert Morgan, who wrote best-seller, "Gap Creek", as well as several other great stories set in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

I love Lee Smith-she has written several great books.

sneely85 I share your enjoyment of Nicholas Sparks books. I've read many of them. Nights in Rodanthe sticks in my mind. In the movie they changed some things for no good reason (as they typically do when making a film from a novel), but I still thought it caught the feeling of the NC coast very well.

Nicholas Sparks is from and lives in NC. He writes about NC too but it's the coast and not the mountains, but they are very good. I've read all of his books and some have even been made into movies. He's a really good author who really makes you feel like you're part of the story. His stories really touch the heart.

I discovered a N.C. author at the LibraryCon back in the summer. Her name is Elaine Corvidae & she writes fantasy/scifi. She lives in Charlotte. She has several series out & is a joy to read.

I'm working on the third of my planned trilogy of action/adventures. The first two are in the 400 page range.

I should mention, I suppose, Kathy Reichs, whose latest I'm reading now. She lives in Charlotte (and Montreal), and her books contain frequent North Carolina references.
