Forgot to mention, most of those are usually considered to be better than the originals

I bet you all have watched a bunch of remakes and loved them, and never even knew they were remakes.

OC's problem is his preferred genres of movies. The reality is, the originals sucked too. horror and sci-fi are horrible at being able to hold up. Most look bad or cheesy after just a few years from their release. Especially Robo Cop. That movie was awful. So a remake can't be any worse. Wait, scratch that. Judge Dredd sucked monkey balls and the recent remake was an even bigger ****fest.

I don't think any remake makes a movie better, in fact they ruin them. Only exception in my book is the 1990 version of Night Of The Liviing Dead. (Savini)

Obviously, a Tom Savini remake is going to fly; after all, he was the mastermind behind the original trilogy, anyway.

But let's be fair here; the 2004 remake (re-imagining?) of Dawn was really better than the original. It had a better plot, brought a lot more depth to the characters, made better social statements, and didn't rely on gore to move the story along.

Was it perfect? No. Did it have some plot holes? Maybe. But the original did, too, so comparing apples to apples, the remake was really a step up.

Don't get me started on Day, though. Just don't.

Other honorable mentions that were better than the originals: I Am Legend, Piranha, and The Thing

I loved the 2004 "remake" of Dawn Of The Dead. It was great and really didn't follow the original plot but instead made its own story line. The only thing it really had in common was a mall. Also near the beginning of the movie there is a shot with original chopper from Romero's movie.

The Thing was a pleasant surprise because it wasn't really a remake. It was a prequel & I really enjoyed it.

I Am Legend could have been better without all the CGI.

World War Z had Brad Pitt. I guess if you're a Pitt fan you might like it.

You saw it here first folks, GW very own Siskel and Ebert. You guys should make this a regular feature.

Evil Dead was the worst remake I've ever known.

"Don't get me started on Day, though. Just don't."...the remake sucked arse
"Other honorable mentions that were better than the originals: I Am Legend, Piranha, and The Thing"

I Am Legend was better than Omega Man, there was another movies remake/based on Omega Man somewhere between 2003 and 2005?(the name escapes me) that was awful.
Piranha ...both movies sucked pretty bad
The Thing 1982 smoked the 1951 and 2011 versions.
RoboCop ...i'm not expecting much out of the remake.
the original story line is usually changed/ discarded in remakes so much the movie is hardly recognizable.
sequels ...the quickie lets ride the wave sequels are almost always bad

I apologize. I did not mean the technology of the movie but the technology it portrays.

Forget that movie.
Watch "Knights of Badassdom" instead.

You're welcome.

After watching the trailer I'm actually going to watch this here in a few. Thanks.
