I really wish I could. Our wood fireplace flares our child's asthma. We cannot have a ventless propane heater for the same reason.

Question: Have you considered a wood stove? We have a small one, & it does great; very-little ash, which means maybe-once-a-month-disposal-of-ashes; extremely-convenient.

Filters are washable and last for several years. Yes, they are expensive to replace. I use it in an addition and it supplements my older 3 ton heat pump. It is saving me about 35% on my electric. Depends on the layout of your home and how the air moves through your home. I keep the thermostat at 2 degrees under or over the setting on the ductless and the main unit doesn't come on unlessthe outside temp gets in the upper 80s or down in the lower 30s. Your mileage may vary. Not trying to sell them, just stating the facts as to my kwh useage. You can also get a 12 SEER unit much cheaper than a 26 SEER but it is nowhere near as efficient. How many square feet a unit will hear or cool depends on a multitude of variables.

Walmart has 24,000 BTU units for $200 less.

Done It All has the 12, 000 BTU model and that should heat/cool a maximum of 550 sq. ft. and the unit costs over $1, 600. I'm guessing but I'd say that doesn't include everything you will need to install the unit. From what I read there are 3 different types of filters in the indoor unit. I wonder how expensive they are to replace? What was the total cost (including installation) of the unit Done It All?

The specs on mine say down to -13. Of course, the colder outside, the less heat available from the outside air.

mitsubishi mini split, do they still put out good heat when it's 10 degrees outside?

Mitsubishi mini split heat pump is the way to go. Most efficient electric you can get. Get as high SEER as you can afford.

I heard on the news this morning that propane is in great supply and the price is not going to be too high this year because of the abundance. That does not stop the gas companies from gouging you though. Maybe if enough people would let them set around with tanks full of overstock they will work on volume reduction and treat us fairly.

Ty for the info. The Mitsubishi ductless heat pump is something new- not heard of it before. Researching it now.

Kerosene is around $3.80 per gallon so if it's a cold winter you probably gonna spend about a dollar per square foot to stay toasty warm. The micro homes are looking better every year. I'm thinking 500 sq. ft. is all a family of 4 with a couple of small dogs and 3 cats need.

I put a Mitsubishi ductless heat pump into an addition last year and love it for both performance and economy. My son has had this type unit in his 4 room Brooklyn apartment for 6 years with zero problems and low electricity costs.

The vented Monitor kerosene heaters have been discontinued and these are supposed to be the equivalent of them.

Who is the cheapest and best to get propane from?

EastmanFamily

Our home was already set up for propane for heat and water. We hate it but was told you can't switch to electric from propane without a huge cost. We have amerigas and it seems really high 700 or more every time and we have to have it twice a year.
