I've read similar books written by Adriana Trigiani. I think the first was called "Big Stone Gap" which is a tiny little town in South West Virginia, near Kingsport, Tn. She grew up there and used this background to weave some nice stories and interesting people into a series of books. I've read two of them and my Mother has read all of them. They're very nice and well written. Hope you can find them somewhere.

I have read some Fannie Flagg. Daisy May and the Miracle Man had me laughing out loud and I also loved Can't Wait to Get to Heaven and Fried Green Tomatoes.

I meant to ask if you have read any of Fannie Flagg's books? She writes southern books similar to these. She wrote Fried Green Tomatoes (the movie was based on it). I keep wanting to read more of her books.

I actually have several of the Mitford series but haven't read them yet. I am sure i will love them. I like all kinds of books. I mostly read horrors and mysteries, but I must say it is so refreshing to read a good wholesome book like Miss Julia.

I actually have read books to my husband and older child too and people laugh and ask why they can't read on their own. LOL! Frankly, they don't like to read, but they enjoy hearing me read to them because it makes it more interesting and they can just sit back and relax.

Everyone always ask me that!!! he keeps a book going of his own and I do too but then we read together. we just enjoy it!!! Of course, I know we are proably a little older than you but it's nice to be comfortable!!! let me know if you know of any other books like these and thanks...have a good one!!!

It is so good to finally find someone who likes Miss Julia. I discovered her books several years ago at R 20. They had just started coming out. I have read every one since. She writes one a year. She lives in Hendersonville and I hope to go to one of her signings. I think she was just at Border's in Winston. Miss julia is exactly like my Grandmother and that's why I love her so much.
