If you like vampires and werewolves try the Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs. These are really great books!

I just finished, and enjoyed, "Kisser" the latest Stone Barrington novel from Stuart Woods. I've read them all (the Holly Barker series as well), and enjoyed every one. Women might well find them a tad sexist, but it's good fun for men.
I'm currently reading the latest Jesse Stone novel from Robert B.Parker called "Split Image". If you're used to really wordy authors, you might find Parker's dialog shockingly to-the-point. "Well, you don't say" is a pretty long sentence for Jesse Stone. To quote a Forbe Magazine review, "Parker's novels make Hemingway look like a windbag". GREAT fun!

Anything by Clive Barker.... he is more of a fantasy/mystery/thriller
Everville and The Great and Secret Show are a couple of titles.
Most of his books tie into each other

Check out anything by Neil Gaiman or Christopher Golden. They both do great "horror" books or just plain wild concepts. Robert McCammon also writes some good horror books.

I read 'Salems Lot as a teenager when it first came out. I slept with the lamp on for about a week and if something hit my second story bedroom window, I was downstairs before you could blink!
