Wow that pic is great. Thanks! I read "The Old Man and the sea" in high school English class (THANK YOU Mrs. Surratt from East Wilkes!) and loved it. Hemingway wrote in short, concise sentences...nothing flowery...got that from his newspaper background. These days Robert B. Parker has his own version of that style. It's sometimes comical how few words he (Parker) uses to express ideas that others (like me, probably) would ramble on and on about.

Here is a photo (of a photo) I took at the Hemingway house in Key West showing Ernest and wife Pauline aboard the 'Pilar' (Pauline's nickname). The gentleman on the right is the ship's captain, a Cuban, upon which Hemingway based the book.

One of my favorites. Sometimes Hemmingway can be hard to read-but not this one!

You mean the one where the old dude chases the big fish all over creation? Sorry, but Hemingway never did much for me.
