You can loan and swap books on the Nook. I am not sure how because I don't really know anyone who has one.

But could you lend it to a friend?

"Take away from ownership?"
I figure that I can store them on the Kindle and I own a copy. The Kindle will hold 3500 books. That is a pretty good library and I can take the entire library with me every easily.

Like I said...I like to read, and I'm not ruling out buying one....but doesn't this take away from ownership?

I have a Nook 3G and love it! I have never touched a Kindle so I don't know the difference but they both look like book pages from what I understand and you can adjust the font size on both. I love to read also but it is way easier to down load a book rather than have to go to Winston to a Barnes & Noble to get a book since I go through them so fast.

I just bought a 3G Kindle today and I love it!. Very easy to use and read. After you set up a Amazon account you can easily buy and download books with one click. The 3 books I bought today were delivered(downloaded) wireless direct to the kindle. It took less than 1 min. to download a entire book.
If you like to read you need a kindle.

I'm sure the kindle is a nice thing to have, and I'm not ruling out not ever getting one....BUT, I love actual books! I love how they feel in my hands.. and I love the smell of them

I LOVE my Kindle! I have found a ton of free books ( I think anything published before 1923 is free) & a large amount of books for .99 & up. It's very easy to use & small enough to fit in my lunchbox or pocketbook.

I love my kindle..

Some of the books are cheaper, some of the books are about the same. BUT if you go online on amazon.com you can find TONS of free book downloads. For whatever reason it's easier for me to find those types of books from my laptop then my kindle .

There's also a lot of discounted books available and MOST popular authors offer "bundles" of books on kindle for a cheaper price.

Also, the read aloud function DOES sound funny but if you download a recipe book it's really handy 'cause it can read you instructions outloud while you cook without having to worry about turning pages.

I have a hitch in my getalong if that counts.

I have been thinking about getting one of those. Do you have to buy the books to download? Are they cheaper than buying books at the store?

I have a Kindle and I would rather read on the Kindle. I can read it faster by turning pages with a click. I am a very impatient reader and I read a lot. I often read several books in the same time period and I can carry the kindle without carrying several books. I still buy a lot of books though but I usually only buy them if I have read a particularly good book that I want to keep a hard copy of or if I want to pass them out then I buy many to hand out.

For people with visual impairment (not me but may apply to others) the Kindle is able to adjust font size to the point that even the most myopic can see. Receive any book you want in less than a minute (that is sold as a Kindle edition (most new books and over 400 million I believe). It also has a speaking/reading mode which I do not like because it sounds to synthetic and unnatural (although not as bad as the old speak and spell technology it is very must like automated answering services). But I really like it. I didn't think that I would. I like the Kindle better than the Nook because I actually like the fact that the Kindle LOOKS like paper.

I agree that having a book in your hand is always the best. However, living where we do, at least a 40 to 50 minute ride away from the nearest real bookstore, a Kindle does have its place. I love books and read all the time, but I also love my Kindle. There is nothing better on a rainy day to get online at Amazon.com and purchase something good to read with just a click. No driving. Reading aKkindle is very easy on the eyes and they are wonderful on trips. Easy to pack, lightweight, and you have lots of books right at your fingertips instead of hauling a bunch of hardbacks or paperbacks in your suitcase.

Someone told me today that she has a nook. She goes to North Carolina Digital Library and loads all the E books available onto it for free. She said she has really enjoyed using it.

I own a Barnes and Noble Nook, but have both Kindle and Nook apps on my Android tablet. The selection of books and newspapers is superior on Kindle. Books...about the same.

I purchased 3 for myself and family members, and none of us use it.

It is easy to use, however, we all had rather have a book in our hands than the Kindle. For us, it was a total waste of money and we all read alot.
