I've talked with the people originally involved in the book club and we all want to continue with East of Eden. So, if you are reading it, great. If you want to jump in and join us, you can pick up EofE now and have it read by the time we meet (in a couple of weeks). I'll try to post some discussion questions on the book club board. If you have a question you've been mulling over about the book, please post it and we can discuss it. I'll post a date for our next in-person meeting in a couple of days. Please PM me with your preferences for in-person meeting; i.e. AM, PM, lunch time, Saturday or day of the week preferred and I'll try to accomodate as many as possible.
Thanks!

I'm new to this discussion site, so I'm not too sure what's what, but I would be very interested in discussing books. Is East of Eden the current discussion? I read it years ago in a college religion class, and again last summer. Would love to talk about it.
I'm well read, but computer illiterate - how do I pm?

Don't worry; we'll wait for you! I am trying to find out a way to have an online discussion. Once I do, I'll let you know. We'll also schedule an in-person get together for those that can make it. In the meantime, just keep reading!

yes, Great Books of the Western World is a great place to start. and in one introductory volume they have a guided plan for 10 years of reading. You can get a set of the books on ebay or buy indiviual volumes used etc. I for one would love a 1 hour a week discussion group on great ideas etc.

I hate to hear that the book club is not still going. I've just been waiting for news of the next meeting. Are we not going to have one?

While noveltea's idea was a great one, the classic book club kind of fell apart before it even had a chance to get started. I have since finished the book we had decided to read and it has inspired me. I've been doing some research on classic books that never made it to the canon of literature (mainly because they weren't racy enough). Would anyone be interested in a book club, either online or in person, reading some classic literature? I think discussing it online is a great way to maintain contact between meetings. If you are interested, please PM or email me. I'd like to see noveltea's idea get off the ground! Thanks
Jason, I've posted this on both the CV and BC just to give it a little more exposure. If you don't feel it should be in both places, feel free to delete this thread. I was hoping more would see it on CV. Thanks!
