Ashe writer speaking to Friends of Wilkes Library on March 11

Clint Johnson

Posted 4:31 pm, 03/03/2010

Clint Johnson, an Ashe writer, will be speaking to the Friends of the Wilkes Ct. Library at 6:00 p.m. on March 11 at the Wilkes Library at 215 10th St. on his book PURSUIT: The Chase, Capture, Persecution and Surprising Release of Jefferson Davis. This book traces the 6-week escape of Jefferson Davis from Richmond through North Carolina until his capture in Georgia. It then delves into the legal issues of why Davis was never tried for any crime even though he was kept in a military prison for more than two years. If you are or know a lawyer, get them to come out as Johnson will get into some weighty legal issues - such as how the Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court rigged a case appearing before him
