My favorite actor. I never saw a performance of his which I viewed as bad. Maybe not crazy about the production as a whole but his performances were always darn good. He also seemed like such a decent human. He was married 57 and half years no small feat for someone in the business he was in. Kinda sad this thread only has a few post to it. Seems if someone dies who we deem have skeletons in their closet we go on and on but when a good guy or girl dies we do not give them the respect nor grace they deserve.

I do recall fondly watching the Maverick Series with my dad..then when the Rockford Files appeared watched that with my snack at my side with shear enjoyment..saw him on several occasions along with hundreds of other fans he was really a down to earth man..will continue to watch the reruns of Rockford Files and smile...Rest In Peace James you have earned it...too many movies to pick as my favorite..

I heard one time that his real last name was Bumgarner and he had ties to Wilkes county.

James Garner, the star of the hit TV series "Maverick" and "The Rockford Files," has died at the age of 86.

One of the best.
