I checked a book out of the public library today and it wasn't anything like my normal reads (true crime, horror, mystery, western). The book is called NUNAGA: Ten years of Eskimo life. The book is written by a man from Scotland by the name of Duncan Pryde. Having been let go from the merchant marines, due to an eye injury, after three years of service, at the age of 18 and growing tired of boring, medial jobs, Pryde answered an add in the local newspaper. The add was looking for strong, adventorous(?) men to trap for the Hudson Bay Trading company. The location of the job, Manitoba and Ontario Canada. After three years of working in that area he requested a transfer to the Arctic circle, where he lived among the primitive Eskimo tribes for ten years. He learned their way of life, their language, and their loyalty. I just hope the rest of the book is as good as the first chapter.
