Came from a family of 14 children. Mom had 3 different husbands. I wondered why only-children were jealous that I came from such a large family because I remember being lonely because when I was born, a girl, there were only boys at home and my mom was constantly busy with the other children when I was growing up so she did not have much time for me. And what I remember most about growing up was the persistent odor of dirty baby diapers.
Regardless of all the hardships, my mom did the best she could with what she had to do with. I understand why she did what she did a long time ago even if I did not agree with her at the time. Regardless of what a lot people thought about her she was still a good mom. She has been gone for 25 years now but she ain't really too far away.

They do have 2 grandchildren, but those are not counted with the 19? or 20? they have.

Fins, the oldest son is married, and does have 1, maybe 2. But the "19 kids" does not include grandkids.

Hold up. Are you saying that none of the kids are grandkids? I thought the older ones were married and had their own kids. The whole thing is nothing but a perfect example of chaos. It's painful to try to follow and figure out who goes where, and in every shot people are everywhere

firstly don't bring god into this. these people are supporting the family on the backs of the american public by being on TV with their lives. You don't say that god blessed the parents with 3 kids that are at DSS getting supported on the backs of the american public.
secondly when their 20th child was born dead they posted all of that on the web as well as having it on TV then stated that they are going to try to have more children.
and thirdly the parents use their religion to control the kids, they are all home schooled and the older kids are forced to parent the younger kids.
yes the bible may say go and replenish the earth. this was after the flood when the human race was wiped out but for noah and his familt. the world is over populated as it is right now. so STOP making babies already

You say he is a self- made millionaire so I wonder why the discovery Chanel helped pay for their house and stocked their pantry. I saw it years ago and some of their income is from leasing their land to phone companies for cell towers. If any of you own property you should look into that. Seems very lucrative .

It should be noted that one couple doesnt have 19 kids.
The program "19 Kids and Counting" is about the couple who does indeed have 19 kids (not counting grandparents, etc). It would have been 20 but she miscarried one not long ago. They're self sufficient and Dad is a self-made millionaire. It if works for them, so be it, but it's definitely not for me.... nor is the show. I just can't sit through it. I've seen them on The Today Show and other programs and just shake my head in disbelief.

Michelle and Jim Bob say they are going for number 20, so it leads me to think they actually already have 19 children.

It should be noted that one couple doesnt have 19 kids. I believe the number of 19 is the number of grandkids in the family. But the entire family (grandparents, parents, kids, and maybe some other relatives appear to live on one family compound.

to have that many children is a personal decision but we do not need to parade this family on TV and say how wonderful....I lived in a city where there was a family that had 18 children and yes we were amazed at the number....but whew really that many?.....so if you have that many bless your heart and mind....Whew!....

Sorry I'm butting in, but I agree. I do not like these people. I can tell you why. The parents are getting the credit for raising all the kids, when that is just not true. The older children take care of the younger children. The parents call it a buddy system, I call it "you've had so many children you can't take care of them like you are supposed to". I do think that siblings should be helpful. That is fair. But to be made to bathe, feed, teach, etc? That is wrong. The parents wanted all those children, they should darn well do everything that PARENTS should do, and not make their children do it!
